12/02: Change, Improve and Enforce

So after the CNY celebrations in school, Gavin talked to Kinhun, Caroline and me about the Sec 1 camp. As he could not find any of the in-charges. So i will just briefly state what he said. (although i cannot remember, thorough notes is with Caroline)

  1. Camp on the whole should only have 2 main objectives. 1) To bond the classes within themselves and their teachers. 2) To have fun :D

  2. We should fight for the chance instead of waiting for one then treasure it.

  3. Each committee should have an I/C, so that its easier to coordinate the effort within the commitee. E.g. Logistics, games and food.ser

  4. During camp we might want to consider putting up a mahjong paper as a form of making important announcements if there is any last minute changes. Cus from his point of view is that runners can't really get the message to everyone in time and might cause confusion.

  5. For meals, we might want to serve it in a buffet style. By having 1 class to serve for each meal and another to help clear up.

  6. Try to include some time for mini (sit down) games.

  7. Facis to memorise and come up with own cheer

  8. Facis have to be tough and independent at times. We need to provide them with some form of simulation of camp.

  9. Logistics and other essential stuff to be settle 3 days before the camp.
I guess that's about all he said. I think that point 2 and point 8 are not easy to accomplished. Especially that point 8, some of the junior councillors are not ready to lead a grp of 10+ people by them selves. My faith in the 29th is still to be gained as i still dun see any progress within the batch. Which stirkes me of the thought of the 24th SC. Hope they really buck up.

Point 2 is alittle hard to achieve cause its more on enforcing this kind os spirit into the batch and the sec 2s.

That's alll i have to say.

12/2: Good job JSS :D

As of today, the student council has handed the money raised for the Haiti victims over to the Singapore Red Cross Society. In total we as a school have raised $891, hereby i would like to thank all those who had bought something from our fundraising stall or donated some of your money. As for those who did not contribute in terms of money, maybe you prayed for them form your heart, i would also like to thank those who have done that, thank you :D.

Quoted from Buddha "Do good, Shun evil" =D

The trip to the SRCS was very hard walk around for like 1h before we found the place :D. At there, met another school's OM, which raised $7700. WOW, wonder what method they used tShw wo raised so much money. However, we did do well in our fundraising too :D.

LOL today i stupid thing happen to me :D. During the concert for CNY, Peiling and I were security personnels for the corridor. So sometimes i would go on patrol around the school. During one of the patrols, i heard people talking inside the ladies. Then i was shocked so stood there to listen what their conversation was about. Sounds to me like studetns talking. So call for back up(Ms Yeong). Together walk until the stairs beside the guides den and saw Mrs Chong and another teacher coming down. So apparently they were from the toilet which i was talking about. Then Ms Yeong was like giving me the "diao" look. She was saying the joke of the century :D.

Then VR apparently got into a conflict with an upper sec who refused to tie the hair after being told. So Ms Yeong got involved and I think her safety is at stake. But who is available to ensure her safety for at least the 10 hours that she spents in school? Hm... a very good Q.

So I guess that's all for this post =D

Happy Chinese New Year to my famillies, friends, 1B and love one =D

11/02: Inspirational :D

Today went to the Jurong Police Division HQ. Apparently they are the biggest Division HQ in Singapore. Their NPC is Woodlands NPC, that receive over 50 calls per day. Had a little introduction to the force. I still remember the ranking structure :D.

From there, we slack for a while before going to the 2nd part of the trip. We were shown the basic equipment that a frontline officer would have with him. Their pistol has a laser for target, wow =D. The T-baton was a very useful object to use in terms of defense. Flexible for all kinds of situation. When i tried the gas mask that are used in situations which involves chemical agent.

Jiatong bully me =(, those who were there should know what had happen =(.

So apparently when the officer asked who wants to join the force in the furture, I was the only one to raised my hand. Then everyone was looking at me. Come on :D what is so bad about the force. Its a tiring life but filled with different experience most of the time. :D Better than a desk-bound job.

So today was a great experience for me :D (and i found out that those people living within the Jurong Division HQ boundaries are in safe hands due to the fact that they are 1st runner-up division every year, which shows their proficiency =D)

2/02: Long week

This week was in-charge of a fundraising event. To everyone who are wondering where we got our stocks, Yes we got them from Sheng Shiong. For those who thinks that our price should be lower by 10 or 20 cents, it is normal for prices during fundraising to be higher but at least they are still reasonable. Compared to my primary school which charged me 100ml of coke for $1 which i believe was very extreme. I can guarantee everyone that the money raised every single cent will go to Red cross society.

IDC, the next upcoming event that I and others are in-charge of. For the tone of the camp, i think it should be 3/4 leisure and 1/4 Discipline. This is to ensure that the sec 2s know when to be serious as it is a basic skill they need to possess when they become seniors or in their working life. The theme of the camp to me should be "Politics" I believe that every leadership roles contains a certain extend of politics in it. Sec 2s have to know how to infer situations or foresee them and try to prevent problems for escalating or surfacing. They will also need to learn how to handle criticism by the student body. Be quick-wit too.
And for the group names why i chosen them is for them to get used to the long/hard names they would have in SLC or Induction. The politicians chosen are influence people which are stubborn, resourceful and able to preserve through numerous difficult problems. Especially President Franklin D. Roosevelt :D

Recently the thought of politics made me to wonder why aren't PRs allowed to vote in elections, i mean we are residents who live in this country for a long period. The government is important to us, if the government does not function properly we are also affected too, so why aren't we allow to vote during the elections. As government is gradually reducing the privileges, the difference between a PR and a foreigner is not so significiang anymore. Not many would want to give up their original citizenship(if their country is economically/ strong) and live in Singapore for long-term. Thus PR provides them with an alternative, as the privileges are reduced, they might move to other countries instead.
