Yes or No to Capital Punishment??
Strangely but true the United States voted against a resolution to eliminate the death penalty from its criminal penal code's punishment call on by the UN general assembly. To me it came as a surprise as he US has always been very concern and uptight about the respect of each individual's rights. Through this incident it has certainly separated the US in terms of human rights issue from other Western Nations.
In my opinion, Capital punishment may be seem as inhumane act by the state, however, shouldn't one ask if everyone knows that it is an inhumane act why on earth do we want to commit the crime and allow their death to be suffered under such gruesome circumstances.
It also serves as a form of deterrence to civilians attempting to take law into their own hands. Now may i ask should the capital punishment be carried out upon a criminal who has committed a serious crime such as first degree murder, homicide etc. that has resulted in the loss of lives, shouldn't this offender pay with his life? what gives him/her the right to takes another's life. The limitation of freedom in prison isn't enough the denial of the right to live would be a better option.
Of course there are others with different opinions out there around the world not saying that Capital Punishment must be accepted by all nations. This will always be a question debated by the international committee.
